Many survivors of child sex trafficking leave shelter homes having taken the most important first step: safety. Shelters provide critical protection and stabilization during moments of extreme vulnerability. What follows is often a difficult transition into independence, one that requires long-term guidance and community beyond immediate rescue. Without continued support after shelter care, many survivors face heightened risk of addiction, exploitation, and financial instability.
Sisterhood stands with them to break that cycle.
Sisterhood is a survivor-led community that complements shelter care by equipping young women with practical skills, mentorship, emotional support, and opportunities to grow into confident, independent leaders. It bridges the gap between short-term protection and long-term freedom through ongoing guidance and pathways to financial independence.
Here, survivors learn, lead, and lift one another. As they grow, many step into mentorship and leadership roles themselves, becoming role models for the girls who follow. This is where healing becomes strength and strength becomes lasting freedom.
Sisterhood is supported by an NGO focused on empowering survivors of child sex trafficking, alongside individual and business supporters and strategic partners. Together, we provide education, mentorship, and leadership development that help survivors build independent lives and stand united against trafficking.
When I arrived at the shelter home, I was physically free, but mentally still imprisoned by fear. I didn’t know what would happen next. I was terrified of being trafficked again. Everything felt uncertain and overwhelming. Three girls were rescued with me. One of them was 30 years old and had spent many years in the sex trade. One day, she sat beside me and said,
“Shehnaz, you still have a chance to live freely, to go to school, to build the life you’ve always dreamed of.”
She became the light that showed me that a better tomorrow was possible. Holding onto that faith, I rebuilt my life. I earned a degree in Business Management, healed deeply, and achieved the dreams I once believed were impossible.
Today, my vision is to become that guiding light for my survivor sisters.
Every survivor deserves a community that truly understands the pain they have endured, a space where we can heal together, uplift one another, build the life with values and grow stronger side by side.
I have seen survivors feel lost, believing there is nothing left for them, and some even being re-trafficked. Watching this happen in shelter homes once left me feeling helpless. But today, I am empowered to build a community where no one has to walk alone, it nurtures leadership, and advocacy creates the lasting change.
As a leader, I commit to walking alongside you until your dreams take shape, your life transforms, and you rise as an unstoppable force for yourself and for others.
"When you choose yourself, you choose freedom. Never give up."

By the time I was 12 years old, many difficult things had already happened in my life. My family put me in a painful situation, and I began to feel that my life was over. I couldn’t see any way forward or know where to find the support I needed. At 12, I often thought about her future. She had dreams and a strong desire to move ahead, but everything seemed impossible. She didn’t know how to read, and the people around her never supported her, they often led her in the wrong direction. Still, deep inside, she held onto a small hope that one day she would succeed. She dreamed of working, becoming independent, and being like those who went to offices, spoke confidently, and lived with dignity. Today, those dreams are slowly becoming reality. I believe that with hard work, courage, and self-confidence, anything is possible. Every girl has the power to dream and achieve, as long as she believes in herself, and that belief is something Manisha has always had and will always carry.
"Strength isn't just in the victories, but in the struggles that shape them. Trust your journey, trust yourself."
